A day at White Sand beach.

This quiet beach lies about 15 minutes away from Candidasa. It's my favourite spot for a quick sun and swim. There is only a small signage by the main road so you really have to watch out for it while driving. From  main road I have to brace very bumpy, sometimes steep hills  before arriving at  the beach.

A quick trip to Tegalalang.

Today I decided to drive to Ubud. It took about 1.5hour from Candidasa. I stopped a few times to ask the locals the direction. From Ubud I made a quick trip to Tegalalang for my favourite rice field view.

I had some cinnamon tea drink and it was quite nice.

When was the last time you had McDonalds?

Today I decided to brace the 2-hour bike ride from Karangasem to Denpasar. There were 4 of us riding 3 bikes. I really enjoy it despite the strong heat. We went to Carrefour (I am so far away from civilization I was really looking forward to shop at Carrefour, silly sad but it's true).

Then I saw McD on the way back and quickly stopped to grab a big Mac. I really don't remember when was the last time I had McD. OMG!!!

Bad bad burger.

My DK is here.

After a week of waiting (and riding the Scoopy round and around the same sawah spot) the DK - registration plate number is ready today. So I decided to take it down to Candidasa now that my bike is legal.

I bought a funny polka dot helmet because I prefer half-covered helmet.

OMG Earthquake!!!

I was reading on my netbook on the floor when I heard the glasses shaking. Then I realized the floor was shaking and my landlord called everyone out to the open courtyard. It was quite freaky because it was my first encounter with an earthquake. It lasted  a few minutes and I could see the water in the pond stirring.

Later I found out from the news that the quake was 6.1 but thank goodness nothing happened. A few hours later there was an aftershock .

Riding a Scoopy.

I've been renting a bike for a month (yes, rempit-style) and gotten quite used to it. In fact, I really enjoyed it.I didn't like motorbike before, until I saw so many Scoopys on the road and I instantly fell in love with its retro shape.

When I told my Balinese friends about it, they insisted that I buy it on an auspicious date. So on that auspicious date I went to Honda Amlapura and it was delivered the next day! However, the plate number is only ready in a week, so I could only ride it as far as the sawah padi nearby. Real teaser, but homigod I can't wait to rempit around on it!

After the bike has arrived, the family made an offering ceremony for the new bike. It's normal here, so I just sat back and watched them placing incense and some decorations on the bike. After that, they asked me to ride the bike and crushed an egg that was placed in front of the tyre, and the bike was 'ready'. I have no idea why.

Time for a spin! Ops I was too excited I forgot the helmet.

I'm glad I brought my Vivienne Westwood keychain and water bottle to Bali.
