This beautiful water garden is set amidst vast rice field not too far from Amlapura. It belongs to the royal family of Karangasem but nowadays anyone can swim in the clean, chilly water.
It took 52 days for the eggs to hatch. The babies were released on the beach, where they 'crawled' for a while and sometimes they turned their body back inland. The officer told me this helps the turtles to remember the 'land' where they come from, and they will always come back when they grow up.
I was invited by an ashram member to her village a few days ago to a ceremony called Usaba De that takes place once every 20 years. Usaba (means ceremony) and De (means youngsters), so basically it's to celebrate the youngsters whose parents made promises while they were young.
There were about 357 'youngsters' who were parading either on horses or walking..accompanied by their relatives carrying offerings. They circled the temple three times before entering it.
On the way to Jungutan village.
You have to go through a narrow path surrounded by snakeskin fruits farm. It's really charming.
