Greetings from Candidasa.

Hello from Candidasa,Bali. I've been here for a week now and still have another week at this quiet little sanctuary. I'm at a yoga retreat that incorpoates a community service with the locals. It's a perfect place to be after so many weeks of packing and unpacking, rushing from one airport to another.

An album of Alexandria.

Finally I have the time to blog about it. It took about 8 hours from Kuala Lumpur to Kuwait City, and from there another 3 hours to arrive at Alexandria's Borg El Arab Airport. This new airport is pretty far from town, about an hour's drive and I had to haggle on the taxi's price like crazy (RM80!). In general this trip to Egypt wasn't as smooth-sailing and hassle-free, but that was already expected anyway. I was 'studying' Lonely Planet's do's and don't before departure and I could attest that most of the book's content was accurate - especially when it comes to understanding the Egyptian (people) and culture.

..flying out of Kuwait City.

..and about to land at Alexandria.

I stayed at this dodgy place called Transit Hotel(?) for one night. I said dodgy because the lift was the vintage-type where it's kinda opened - no door and all. But I survived lol.

I found the architecture in Alexandria to be quite 'French'. The cool weather, the friendly people, and the Arabian character made it even more exotic.

The highlight was the Alexandrina Library, built near the corniche about 15 minutes walk from where I stayed.

The next day I left Alexandria for Cairo. For more photos click  "Read More" ,Darrlingg.
