P/S: Do you think Karl really drinks Coke ?

I stumbled upon a liberating quote from Little Grandmother on how we judge others, or how we receive judgment from others.
Passing judgment to others is an ego-based experience we choose to have for ourselves.
While receiving judgment from others is how we want to experience it, good or bad.
Photos from the Hong Kong trip I did Oct 2010 last year. I have never really encountered so many people on the streets..literally everywhere! And of course if you like shopping, the customer service experience there is marvelous!

About a year ago, I started this blog (hosted on blogspot at that time). It was purely to document my so-called mundane wishes, wants and everything else I purchased. Yes, a platform for all things material, you might say that. I thought it was some sort of an experiment platform for fashion. Fashion to me, is about everything that revolves around it. That insatiable lust for new things, that envy of what others have but I couldn't have, that fleeting feel-good factor as I laid my hands on the brand new goods I've just purchased, that moment of guilt whether or not I've made the right decision or getting myself a good deal. .. The experience of putting up new get ups and outfits - receiving both love-hate remarks in the name of experimentation and having fun. Playing roles and parodies...But lately, I constantly have this nagging feeling deep inside me that all these are not as fun or as relevant as it used to be. It's like a giant maze - or a never ending love-hate relationship, to the point I kept thinking, how much is too much? When will it ever be enough? It's a strange feeling, like all these pleasures I used to have..it's diminishing, if not gone. It gets really tiring sometimes. Well, perhaps I need to really slow down.

Anyway, I think I've never really explained why I did certain things on my postings before, such as:
#Mentioning a price tag.
To me it was purely informative, particularly because of where I am (KL), info on merchandises don't come easily - the merchandises don't even make it to window displays here - a lot of online retailers don't even bother to ship to Malaysia - so when I mentioned a tag, it's just a figure some might want to know ; even if it's just out of curiosity. That being said, I know some think it's impolite to do so. "One must never mention the price, it's rude and unclassy." But to me, honestly..a figure is just a figure. Class is always the role I'm uncomfortable playing.
#Close up detail shots of logos and prints.
I have always been curious of how a label looks like - especially if I have never seen one. Perhaps it was my design background, where we had to study typography, visual merchandising and advertising that encouraged me to take notice of all these things. We all know many designers spend so much effort on branding or designing - so what is wrong with appreciating details? Just because it's designer, has it got to be translated as negative or vulgar?
#Dressing up funny/tacky.
What I find ironic about fashion is, we all claim to love fashion - that fashion is about individual expression. Yet we get so judgmental when it comes to others' choice of dressing up. We call them all kinds of names, just because they don't dress the way society expects or wants them to. It takes all kinds of people to make the world go round, and it's always easier to judge others but never oneself. And since when does deriding another's choice is considered fashionable?
#Fashion for status symbol.
This relates back to the 'tacky' part. Yes fashion could be an expression of one's status symbol..but surely the scope isn't limited to just that. What if one dresses up not because he/she wants to appear sexy, or stylish (in a limited uptight definition anyway), or classy chic fancy? What if you just dress up for the fun part of it..or for the practicality of it? Well, anyway I think it's really important to learn to accept each other.
One of my favorite capital cities ever is Copenhagen, Denmark. The clean, bright Scandinavian designs all over. But most importantly, I found Copenhagen to be some of the most modest (and that's a very good word Darrlingg!) capital cities I've ever been to. For example, the streets are modestly lit at night (with a suspended shade hanging above the mid-road). The metro/train runs 24 hours on weekends. And the best bit, it's a bike city. Love. These photos are from my previous trip back in September 2006 where I stayed for about 3 months, taken in and around Copenhagen. (Spot the Hamlet Castle will ya?)
Happy Sunday Darrlingg! To me it can also mean, Happy Shrek-day. A day of vegetating and mud-slapping at home.

Yesterday evening I accompanied my bestie, Sahilah to the launch event of these labels.
The show started with Morgan de Toi.
Then Celio*
...and finale by Thierry Mugler.
Upon registration, a ribbon was tied around the guest's wrist. You redeem the goodie bag at their boutiques with ribbon. So I came back with some vouchers, Biotherm samples and a red-white Celio* canvas belt.
Well, not exactly. I've finally decided today on my return tickets from Egypt. I was googling hard, and found out I can fly from Cairo to KL via Etihad for RM1.2k, or with the same fare, I could split and do separate stopovers on different airlines. I told ya I think airlines are amusing.
First Cairo to Bangkok via Muscat.
Few days in Bangkok then to Koh Samui.
Three nights in Koh Samui then back to KL.

So that's what I did, all day. Life is all about choices and alternatives, I guess. Can't wait!
It's Wednesday. What better way to celebrate it than to treat myself to some (Wednesday-discount) movie tickets :-P Today I did movie marathon with my sista. It was really fun. Love both the movies, especially that cute British-accented lil girl Bailee Madison (as Maggie) in Just go with it.
First we watched "Just go with it."
Then "Rio".
Few days ago, after long deliberation with myself and I, we've decided to take a break from Facebook and Twitter. Perhaps a short break..or it could be permanent. I've always had a love-hate relationship with Fb/Twitter , just like my sentiment towards fashion in general. I love it when it allows me to access world's latest news and connecting to my friends and that occasional stalking of celebs. Also, you can easily sign in to many sites with integrated Fb/Twitter account. But lately, aside from the fact that both are addictive (that's the first thing I check when I woke up), I've started to dislike it when these great platforms are used (or abused?) to channel negativity. Never mind the fact that most of the time you have to filter out lots of bla bla bla, to the point it's becoming pointless. Well, well, they say never say never. Addiction might come back lol.

Anyway, while searching for the above image, I stumbled upon these cool vintage-looking ads done by a Sao Paulo ad agency called Moma Propaganda as part of the “Everything Ages Fast” ad campaign for Maximidia Seminars last year.
