August Man - Men of The Year 2010

There was an event that took place at Hap Seng Star Showroom last night (26 Nov) at 8pm. It was organized by August Man Magazine to award the winners of the Men of  The Year 2010 Celebration.

 Here's an invite.
It was drizzling on and off but the invitees arrived in good time and the event took off as scheduled. There were some displays of HTC phones, watches, Biotherm and of course, Mercedes Benz. While free-flow drinks and canapes were being offered around, everyone just oohed and aahed at the various showcases.

Serena C opened the event, followed by a welcome note by August Man's editor, Rubin Khoo. At this point, in usual Malaysian fashion, the guests had to be asked to hush before the speeches and presentations could take place.

There was a Paul Smith fashion show for Spring 2011.

Towards the end of the event, there was a lucky draw with prizes including a Leica camera and a watch worth RM11,000! Of course I'm unlucky when it comes to lucky draws (oh dear, what did I do in my last life??!).

I didn't go home empty-handed though. There was a goodie bag waiting at the exit that included a Paul Smith discount voucher, August Man 2011 Calendar and the magazine, too.

Oh, earlier on when we arrived at the venue, they snapped our picture (my bestie and me) and upon leaving they handed a neat little photo frame which I thought was really a nice touch.

I had on  Paul Smith shirt and bag, Topman jeans, Moschino loafers (I only realized then that I had forgotten to put on a belt... was rushing... boo!)

The M Carnival

Hello Darrlingg!Yesterday evening I attended the M Carnival at their multi-brand stores at The Gardens shopping mall. The were two adjacent stores: men and women. The event was held to 'celebrate' the arrival of the new collection. Guests were entitled to a 15% rebate on the new arrivals.

Email invitation. Thanks Shasha (The Manager) for the invite!

My friend and I arrived at 8pm sharp. Well actually we arrived at the mall half an hour earlier and decided to chill out at the Garden Club lounge. The reception was at the women's store, and I saw some beautifully-dressed shopaholics fashionista stylista socialites guests were already picking up the shoes and clothes (and food).

Some of the brands available were Custo Barcelona, D&G and Farah Khan.

There were some  live accessories walking around too. Cute, eh?

Then I headed to the men's store nearby. Here you could find Fred Perry, Just Cavalli, Boss Orange, Comme des Garçons PLAY, D&G and many others. I saw some nice polos but I remembered my card was already maxed-up. LOL.

The theme was LA, so of course there were bite-sized burgers and hot dogs. Even the nitrogen ice cream thingy which was so delicious and interesting! The were a few of these cute food booths that looked like carnival carts in both stores.

But of course I took some wannabe photographs!

I wore tailored leather jacket, Vivienne Westwood tee and jeans, Pierre Hardy shoes and Yves Saint Laurent bag.

I hope you enjoyed the snaps. Not enough? Ok fine, find more peektures here.

Pierre Hardy Suede Shoes

Well Hello Darrlingg!

A couple of weeks ago I picked up this pair of bright blue suede shoes from Joyce Outlet in Hong Kong. As always, the formula went like this:  It's blue ( I don't have blue shoes) + It's the last pair + It's in my size + It's on 70% (RM450 after discount). Plus I'm such a newbie to buying anything Pierre Hardy. So yup, meet my Pierre Hardy shoes (hehehe).

 It's shoe time!

Now let's play spot the shoe from this Monsieur Pierre Hardy  interview, shall we?

McQ is on SALE.

Hey y'all. I am so excited these few days. It's that time of the year again. The sale. The sale. The sale! Well not that I need anything else anymore for this year (damage-control!). Except for that one tee shirt at McQ I have been eyeing, and it was on 70%!

Excuse me, did someone say SALE??

Then finally, after 10 years of waiting, Fashion TV (FTV) is finally here on my TV screen. For those of you who don't know, FTV was only brought into Malaysia (or KL area?) recently, available via Unifi service. So don't ask me how I survived all these years without something as 'basic' (in that modern fashion world lingo) as FTV and high speed internet (and that's only a quarter of what you guys get over there). Anyway, it's a small improvement that makes me happy :-)

Till then, Darrlingg.

Karangkraf Aidiladha Open House

Today I went to Karangkraf Aidiladha open house at their huge warehouse-sized base in Shah Alam. Karangkraf is one of the local publisher for some local mags and prints, and Aidiladha is a celebration day for Muslim. There were big marquees (it was drizzling so thank Goodness for the marquees), some live performances (religion-related of course), and delicious local food, served buffet style.

Most people were wearing national costumes.
I told you there was food.

Then one of the magazine editor took me into the 'office' for a quick visit. The place was really huge, like a football field. Apparently there was no room for 'The Closet' (he said it's coming soon), perhaps that's why I saw some Banana Republic hanging down there in the pic. I saw some studios with lights still on. I was so tempted to pose right there and then but I guess that would be..errr..inappropriately pedestrian, eh?

So that's all I could share for now. Till then, have a nice weekend will ya.

Tod's Loafers in Purple

Here's a long overdue post. I nearly forgot about the purple Tod's I bought from Melium outlet a few months ago. I've never worn it partly because no one has thrown a purple purple purple party (just like Alexandr Petrovsky's daughter in SATC). Well, it is also my fantasy to have at least one shoe each in the colours of the rainbow. Who doesn't, eh? Anyway, the shoes were retailed at RM825 after 50% discount. I like the fact that the rubber sole covers the entire bottom of the loafers. Won't terribly break my heart if the velvety suede bottom got scraped by sharp pebbles.Love.

 Love the ribbon-like suede tie.
Speaking of purple, my favourite movie ever is The Colour Purple. I could watch it over and over again partly because of Oprah, I think.

Have you ever heard or know of people who decided to change their choice in shoes/shopping habit be it in terms of price or labels or boutiques and they got criticized for it? They were accused of being shallow and for having forgotten their 'roots'? Well, if you wonder why people move on, I think Oprah has the answer:

John Galliano Grey Tee

T shirt, t shirt and more t shirts. Well t shirt is very practical in this climate anyway, eh? I found this John Galliano tee  at Joyce outlet in Hong Kong. It's my first Galliano tee! A little step to Galliano-hood (Although that would be..ermm..sort of betraying dame you-know-who). Hmm but isn't a tee shirt is basic human right? Becky Bloomwood said, not me! Oh well, I just couldn't help it, not when the tag was slashed  by 70% from RM1060. Very soft, thin fabric. It's love, Darrlingg.

Walking to Galliano-hood. Ok not exactly that. Welcome to Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad y'all.

Galliano tee, tailored harem pants, Etro bag, C'N'C Costume National sneakers.

Islamic Fashion Festival Gala Dinner

Hey y'all. Happy weekend! Last night I accompanied my bff to the Eleventh Islamic Fashion Festival at Marriott Hotel. Her mom, Salimah Mahmood was making an encore performance at the Gala Night of the festival with her much-loved singing.

Cheapies tops, tailored pants, Yves Saint Laurent loafers, Vivienne Westwood bag.

A bazaar-like setting was created along the way into the banquet hall with stalls showcasing some local designers as well international names such as Etro and Swarovski. On each seat at the tables inside the hall was a goodie-bag containing SKII samples and beauty vouchers. I love goodie bag! Freeloaders,eh?

The theme for the night was Moghul Splendour. A lavish tent was erected at the entrance of the banquet hall while colourful flags and moorish arches adorned the interior. It was soooo pretty and elaborate inside, I almost felt dizzy with excitement! Seriously!

Since I was there early, I popped backstage, where her mom took a pick from a selection of dresses.

Then she went centrestage, singing "Melati Suntingan". I think I would cry of nervousness if I have to sing there.

A scrumptious 3-course dinner was served as the runway shows and song performances filled the evening.

Outfit after outfit, designers from the various regions rolled out their creations.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures Darrlingg. Till then :-)
