Desigual Tee Shirt

Bright colours and patterns always cheer me up, especially when they have artisan quality to it. Desigual was established in 1984 by Thomas Meyer,then a 20 y.o. Swiss national. This label went into my shopping basket last weekend when it was on sale (otherwise too expensive for my liking). The thing about such a strong print is that after you wear it a few times, you get a lil bit ...shall I say..déja vu. This tee was retailed at RM289 with 40% discount. Now that's fair enough, I think.

Yohji Yamamoto Spring Summer 2011

Sometimes when you look at runway photos, it looks as if anything goes. I know runway styling is often dramatized, but when I look at Yohji Yamamoto collection, it makes my so-called trendy , everything-slim-fitting clothes (ok I know I'm not that slim oh kayy) look totally redundant. Perhaps that's why Yohji Yamamoto is known as avant garde designer.Well I think it takes really special people to appreciate this collection. If you ask me Darrlingg, I'd pick up pieces here and there and style it my own MuseMono flash flash way. Well that's if I win the lottery tomorrow.Or if I win America's Next Top Model.

Topman Shorts

What better way to use this Phuket trip as an excuse to get some shorts from Topman. I've been eyeing these two but refused to buy them until a few days ago when they hit the sale bin! Stingy me,eh? Normally when I want something (not need you see), I would try to wait for the sale but I think most of the time I'm too impatient to wait,sigh.

The yellow/purple shorts were retailed for RM159 with 30% while the grey/maroon shorts were RM186 with 50%. Then I added a few singlets, RM39 each with 30%. Go Darrlingg, Go hit the Topman SALE! (Topman should pay me for free advertising)

Pedro loafers

Yesterday I went to search for a pair of loafers for everyday use. Loafers are a great option because I can slip in-out easily (I need to replace my Marc Jacobs slippers too because they ate my flesh, yikes!) I saw Pedro was on sale and I searched the cheapest loafers (cheapskate me,eh) and found this pair.It's the only pair that comes in my size for RM130 after 50% discount. This is my first Pedro purchase and I have to say I'm impressed because the pricing is similar to Zara, but it comes in a very good packaging.The SAs are very friendly..and Oh the decor is pretty good, Darrlingg.

Sorry Darrlingg,I shot it at night, so the colour runs (yellowish) a bit due to my home lighting. Normally, I would shoot with natural light during daytime, but I'm too excited to flash it to you, plus I'm already in Phuket for holiday as you read this today (this post was pre-written yesterday night, cyber much?Err actually I'm writing it now for tomorrow..gosh..I  sound mad).Oh Whatever.

I was on the way out to have dinner with friends. I live on 2nd floor,my parking is only 3 levels down. So it took me only 30 seconds to shoot this. Just kidding. I think I went up and down a couple of times like mad, Darrlingg.

Topman Striped Shirt and Belts

I was just googling about what some Malaysians think of Topman.

"Topman don't sell clothes that any men who aren't thin would want to wear"
"I can tell if a dude wearing topman (especially the plain shirt) 100 meters away... "
"Seriously the fashion there is getting more and more gay-ish" 
"Don't think u look cool by wearing those pieces from TOPMAN, it looks cheap on you".

Yes Darrlingg, most of the comments are negative. No wonder I see so many unhappy faces at shopping malls. Well to me Topman offers affordable alternative to those high-end runway clothes I can't afford to buy. Remember those runway look from Thom Brown I posted earlier? I see an inspired one at Topman for probably only 10% of Thom Browne. But of course you only get what you paid for.

British fashion is very much influenced by Brit-Pop, Mod and Punk. So of course you see some rebellious prints and colours, so it's up to you to choose what you like. Pink or Green is not gay or tacky by default. It's the styling that reflects the appearance or image. In fact, what we think is effeminate here is probably not in Europe or vice versa (because of geography/history/sociology etc). It's called international exposure and breeding, Darrlingg.Think hard before you speak your 2 cents because there's already so much negativity in this world, rrrightt?

Enough of reading for you. Now enjoy some Topman porn. Yikes? While I was in Jakarta, I found these belts on sale at Harvey Nichols for RM25 each! Then the striped shirt at Topman Grand Indonesia for Rm100. Well, talk about saving or spending,eh?

Birthday Dinner at Tamarind Springs Restaurant

My friends and me share the same birthday month, so we thought it would be fun to have a lil celebration dinner at some place we all have never been. Then we agreed on Tamarind Springs, a restaurant set in a 'jungle', a cross-breed of Balinese & Thai garden and architecture.

As you enter the gate, you'll be greeted with a runway-like bricks-laden path, surrounded by lush trees with ambiance lighting. As you strut down the 'runway', you'll immediately feel that magical moment coming.

The restaurant was divided into three food sections: Italian, Indochinese, Malay-Thai. We picked Indochinese because the Malay-Thai section was full. We didn't do any reservation, but Darrlingg I insist that you reserve before you come, because this place is HOT-ness!!

The food arrived looking pretty and it taste really good! The coffee was great too so I had two cups (you see that drinks in green cups, don't cha).

After we had the lovely meal we unwrapped the emergency-brownies-turned-cake I picked up earlier.Happy birthday July Darrlingss!

We finished really late just before midnight and we were the last customers to leave. It was so comfortable and inspiring nobody noticed the time at all. HERE is their website y'all, GO.

Gucci Spring Summer 2011

Talk about flash flash, and Gucci comes into the picture, or rather, on the PC screen. Although I think this season's collection is pretty Gucci (you know that horse bit loafers part,that silk suit part)..but still..I kept yearning for last season's collection. What is wrong with you me?Oh well.

More fabrics to play with

Yesterday I picked up some fabrics from the fabrics shop near Petaling Street to turn them into some shirts and harem pants. I have found the tailor for the pants, but not yet for the shirts. I think I'll bring them to Phuket to be made since I heard there are some fast, affordable and good tailors there. Most tailors in KL stopped taking order due to the coming festive season. Of course I can't wait, Darrlingg!

Happy Belated Birthday Oscar de la Renta! Fine, I know I'm two days late oohkayy, but still. I adore Oscar de la Renta. I love to say his name out loud too.OSCAR.DE.LA.RENTA. So fabulous, yes???

We all know the house of Versace was huge in the eighties. Martyn Bal, the most recent designer for Versace menswear took inspiration from the old Versus and Jeans Couture. Talk about homecoming, eh? I love those psychedelic prints, very Versace, I tell ya.

Jeffry Tan Ikat Pants

Hey y'all. TGIF,eh? Now let me introduce you to this pair of Jeffry Tan "ikat" pants. The word “ikat” means “to bind.” It is a very ancient way of creating designs in fabric by resist-dyeing the threads before the fabric is woven. The pants were distressed to achieve a worn look (which I love so much, otherwise it would look too festive, eh). This was the only pair available in Fashion First boutique, Jakarta (and it's my size!) so you can say it's a one-off because most of the clothes there are hand made in very small quantity.Retailed at RM350, I think it's very reasonable and very me, Darrlingg.

If you ask me, what I really like about Vivienne Westwood is that her clothes aren't afraid to look funky, rebellious and a little fun-ny. It's not about trying to achieve sophistication or trying to fit in with the rest of the people who probably don't understand better.
